Concorde's appetite for new music could be called insatiable--and this characteristically adventurous programme brought works by two young Irish composers as well as by composers from abroad to an appreciative audience in the Hugh Lane Gallery.
You should expect to hear music that draws upon a wealth of different influences, musical and otherwise. Like the composition by young and upcoming Irish composers Rob Canning, which mixes the clarinet with electronics; or the work of another Irish composers, Ed Bennett, which is a 'very clever use of speech, song and attitude!'
The music played by Concorde is always contemporary, sounds fresh, and demands an innocent ear or at any rate an ear free of preconceptions.
